NH Knights win GSBA 17U baseball tournament

The New Hampshire Knights Baseball Club won the Granite State Baseball Association Senior Division 17U Tournament at Academy Field in Hollis.

The Knights won the single elimination tournament by defeating Concord, Mass., and the Hudson Black Sox to win the league title.

Brad Deluca of Nashua High School South pitched a gem to lead the Knights to a 5-3 victory over Concord as he struck out eight batters and scattered six hits. Knights catcher Anthony Garuti of Nashua High School North was outstanding defensively.

In the finals, the Knights bats came alive with four home runs in a 12-7 win over the Hudson Black Sox. Matt Byers of Nashua South, Garuti, and the Hagland brothers Seth and Hudsen of Charlestown all hit round trippers.

Seth Hagland hit a three-run blast in the bottom of the sixth to stop Hudson Black Sox momentum and seal the win for the Knights.

Hudsen Hagland got the win on the mound with key relief pitching from Quin Dipasquale of Bishop Guertin and Byers. The Knights had an overall record of 9-4.

Other members of the Knights included Chris Smith, Mitch Roske and Devyn Pioli of Milford High School; Brett Desrochers, Mark Cefalo, Bobby Dortona and Jared Rooney of Salem High School; Mike Habibi, Matt Ferris and Christa Fisher of Nashua South and Jeremy Ouelette of Bishop Guertin.
