Amherst Auto 10, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 6
Ed Jaracz finished a strong week at the plate with a 3 for 3 outing to lead Amherst over the medics. The mechanics had a well-balanced effort with seven players putting together two-hit efforts, led by Don Kasper (single and double) and Walter Chambers (single and double). Bob Lamontagne’s two home runs went for naught for the docs while Bob Larose added a pair of hits.
Calvary Lock & Key 20, Hanson’s Automotive 12
CLK finished a 3-0 week with a powerful offensive onslaught (34 hits) against the overmatched wrench turners. Dick Gillespie led the parade for the winners with a 5 for 5 day and Bo Buczyinski, Wally Hedlund and Bruce Landry contributed four hits of their own. Dave Holder was the top gun for Hanson’s, pounding out four hits in a losing effort while Dick Moushegian, Geoff Geoffrion and Woody Woodward brought three hits of their own to the battle.
Amherst Auto 6, Art’s Painting 5
Tom Riley pitched and batted the mechanics to this tight victory with two hits, including a home run. Ron Gelinas added 3 hits for the winners while Jim Edwards, Mike Ford, Don Kasper and Ed Jaracz chipped in with a pair. Art’s made a battled back with four runs in the seventh inning, but came up one short. Rich Stockdale garnered three hits for the painters and Jerry Ferullo, Dan Birck, Murph Albert and Ron Lewis had a pair each.
Hanson’s Automotive 3, Jok’s Auto Sales 0
Steve Stitt was a one-man wrecking crew for Hanson’s, tossing a shutout and striking three hits to lead his club past Jok’s in this low-scoring affair. Geoff Geoffrion also brought three hits to the game and Woody Woodward added a deuce. Eddie Gifford and John Cebrowski were the lone offensive bright spots for Jok’s picking up a pair of hits each, while Bob Lemieux was the tough-luck losing hurler.
Pine Street Eatery 15, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 12
There wasn’t a safe spot on the field as these two teams joined for a combined onslaught of 45 hits with PSE having the final edge. Del Patton smacked out five hits, including a homer, and Peter Burr added four hits that included a triple for the winners. Bob Larose, Ron Monteiro, Roger Neild and Ken Rousseau all added three hits for the medics.
Amherst Auto 6, Pine Street Eatery 5
The wrench turners continued their hot play to squeak by PSE in this narrow win. Ron Gelinas and Al Ross contributed three hits to the cause while Tom Riley, Don Kasper and Jim Edwards all banged out a pair. Del Patton homered amongst his three hits to lead the chefs and Paul Archer and Clarence Farwell had a pair each.
M & N Sports 9, Calvary Lock & Key 3
M & N had only one extra base hit amongst their 22-hit attack, but the singles were consecutive as this team effort took down the locksmiths. Steve Coco, Rod Robuccio and Paul Kaminski all snared a trio of hits for the winners. Dick Gillespie, Alan Halee and Bo Buczyinski led CLK with three hits each.
Art’s Painting 12, Dr. Dionne’s Seniors 4
The painters got back on the winning track after a long drought led by Ron Lewis on the mound and three-hit efforts from Dan Birck (single, double and home run) and Jerry Ferullo. Ray Floryan, Murph Albert and Lewis also banged out two hits apiece. Paul Poisson, Dennis Smith and Bill Ohm led the docs with a pair.
