American Jr. Legion: Nashua finishes 2nd in state tournament

The Nashua Junior Legion Post 3 baseball team finished second in the Junior Legion State Tournament held this week in Manchester.

The team was made up of 17 players from the three high schools in Nashua – Brendan Barrett, Jacob Burbank, Jacob Butler, Chris Cruz, Tim Donovan, Alex Dunn, Jon Dunn, Jason Ferlan, Josh Goulet, Colby Gunter, Brendan Martin, Sam McCarthy, Shane Nowak, Zach Smith, Joe Soraghan, John Vidal and Andy Williams. Post 3 was managed by Greg Coy and assisted by Steve Martin, Dennis McCarthy and Brian Soraghan.

Nashua had an incredible first season with a record of 9-4, clinching the third seed for the tournament. In its first game of the tournament, Nashua had a strong win over Bristol, 7-2. Nashua rolled on from there, beating Lebanon 10-3 the following day. Nashua experienced its first loss on Sunday, falling 5-1 to Dover, which finished first in its division with a record of 15-1.

On the fourth day of the tournament, Nashua had a 9-6 win over Hudson, which finished first in its division, beating Nashua twice during the regular season. Despite a strong team effort, Nashua fell short again to Dover losing in the championship game.
