NASHUA – Chris Good is the Nashua Silver Knights version of the hot goaltender.

Before a Bruins Night crowd of 1,421 at Holman Stadium, the lefty from the University of New Mexico tossed 7 1/3 innings of three-hit ball in helping the team raise its record to 8-4 with a 4-1 win over Martha’s Vineyard.

For the Silver Knights, it’s now five in a row plus six straight at home. Good, meanwhile, is now 2-0 and his 0.69 ERA coming in had to shrink as the Sharks only run was unearned. The lefty fanned three and walked one.

"I’m really happy for him," Nashua manager B.J. Neverett said. "He’s a red shirt kid and he’s going to be in the rotation at New Mexico next year. He’s getting his work in now, and hopefully he can keep it going."

Offensively, Nashua only got six hits but made them count. The Knights got a bloop RBI single by Lamarre Rey and sac fly from Connor Lyons to take a 2-0 lead in the second off Vineyard starter Matt Cook (0-2). League-leading hitter Logan Gillis’ single and subsequent error by Sharks right fielder Karl Kapinos on the play in the seventh made it a 3-1 game and Chris Shaw singled in a run in the eighth for good measure.

Good’s only real trouble came in the fifth when he wild-pitched a run home. But with runners in scoring position he retired Shark Tad Gold on a ground out. He also had the potential tying run at second with one out in the sixth but got a key strikeout and comebacker to the mound to escape. Relievers Brad MacHaffie and Cody Rocha were just as dominant in relief.

"It’s confidence," Good said. "At New Mexico, those are some of the best hitters I’ll ever face. … I feel good. The change (changeup) is definitely working. I’m just getting ground balls for my teammates, keeping them involved in the game."

Meanwhile, the involved Knights flashed the leather a little on Saturday night as well. Rey barreled over the fence near the right field concession stand catching a foul pop in the first, and Sean Lyons successfully dove for a liner near the line in left for the final out of the eighth.
