The Nashua Lodge of Elks 720 will be holding its 19th Annual Greater Nashua “Soccer Shoot” contest on Saturday morning, Aug. 24 from 8:30-11a.m. at the Main Dunstable Road Soccer Fields in Nashua.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each of the 10 groups (five boys and five girls).

First-place winners will compete in the Elks New Hampshire State Soccer Championship Shoot on Oct. 13.

A major addition to this year’s soccer shoot is the addition of 14-15 year olds to compete. Last year 13-year-old Charles “Chuck” Wason of Amerst won the 2018 NH State Elks U-14 Boys Soccer Shoot Championship. He now will be eligible to compete again for two years in the new U-16 Boys Division.

The same goes for 14 and 15 year old girls to compete.

The Elks Greater Nashua Soccer Shoot is a two-stage contest that best represents the skill levels of the five age groups: U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16

The participant’s age on Jan.1 is used to determine the contestant’s age division. The “Five-Goal Contest” is a succession of separate smaller ground level goal targets for the U-8 participants (15 kicks). The “Grid Goal Contest” places the ball at a spot centered to the goal as follows: 18 feet from goal for U-10’s, 27 feet for U-12’s and 36 feet for U-14 and U-16’s (15 kicks per kicker)

The Elks Shootout is open to all interested boys and girls from area towns including Hudson, Litchfield, Amherst, Brookline, Hollis, Merrimack, Milford, Wilton and Nashua.

All participants must register prior to their participation. Registrations will begin at 8:30 am. There is no charge for participating in the Elks Greater Nashua Soccer Shoot.

In the event of a rain cancellation, the programs will be rescheduled on Sunday, Aug. 25 at the same location and times.

For additional information, contact Al Savage, Elks Youth Chairman at 888-0064 or Jack Balch, Co-chairman, at 765-2844 any time.
