Merrimack upsets Goffstown, lone local team left on ice

Merrimack was the only local boys hockey tourney team to win on Saturday, making the Tomahawks the lone local team left playing.

No. 6 Merrimack 3,

No. 3 Goffstown 0

Ben Hardy was superb in goal with 36 saves and Noah Melker scored the only goal the Tomahawks (10-7-2) would need as they advance to Wednesday’s semifinals vs. Dover at Everett Arena at 5:30 p.m.The Tomahawks got two empty netters in the final minute.


No. 2 Monadnock-Fall Mountain 6,

No. 7 Pembroke Campbell 0

Chris Boucher had two goals and two assists at the Keene Ice Arena  to help end the Spartan-Cougars season at 7-12.

No. 3 Belmont-Gilford 2,

No. 6 Hollis Brookline-Derryfield 1 (2 OT)

Joey Blake scored the game-winner at 6:35 of the second sudden death overtime to end the Warriors season at 9-10. The Warriors had split with B-G during the regular season. The Bulldogs will face Monadnock-Fall Mountain in the semis Wednesday at 5:30 at Plymouth State.
