Warriors get the lone local win in tough night

It was a tough night Thursday for several locals, except the Hollis Brookline-Derryfield boys hockey team. Here’s a look:

BOYS HOCKEY

Salem 5,

Nashua North-Souhegan 3

The Saber-Titans fell behind 4-1 after three and couldn’t recover despite a good third period. Now 2-13, N-S got goals from Mike Dodge, Ryan Dancoes and Chris Weeden, while John Natale had a pair of assists and Colin Duckless had 22 saves in goal.

Hollis Brookline-Derryfield 8,

Sanborn 3

Jared Sanborn led the locals, now 9-6 in Division III, with a hat trick followed by Dylan Terenzoni with a pair.  Other Warrior goals were scored by Sal Vella, Jacob Roy and Paul Vachon. Assists went to Colin MacDonald, Joey Oetjens, Michael Mc Laughlin and Matthew MacBean. The Warriors also played well defensively in front of goalie Rylan Morgan (11 saves).

Keene 4,

Merrimack 2

Zach Stimeling scored both goals for the visiting Tomahawks (8-6-1), who led 1-0 after one but gave up four second period goals. Goalie Ben Hardy had 16 saves for the Tomahawks, who host Lebanon-Stevens-Mount Royal Saturday at 4:40 p.m. at Manchester’s West Side Arena for Military Appreciation Night.

Merrimack 3,

Somersworth/Coe-Brown 2

(Wednesday)

Dylan Sadowski scored the game-winner, his second goal of the night, in the third period as the Tomahawks moved to 8-5-1. Drew Lemire had Merriamck’s other goal (plus an assist) while Zach Stimeling had two assists.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Pembroke 66,

Milford 48

The Spartans were up 22-19 after the first half but gave up 20 points in the third quarter as Pembroke pulled away and ended up with four scorers in double figures.

Max Fortin led the way for Milford (6-7)) with 14 points and eight boards while Christian Jones added nine and six rebounds. Milford hosts Coe-Brown tonight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bishop Brady 85,

Hollis Brookline 60

The visiting Cavaliers fell to 10-5 despite 19 points from Christina Balsamo and 10 from Amanda Goglowski. Elizabeth Atkinson added 11 rebounds. HB is at Kearsarge tonight.
