Bomba’s away! It’s a threepeat for Alvirne diver

The third time for Alvirne High School girls diver Skyler Bomba was not only the charm, it was the norm.

Bomba won her third straght Division I state diving title at the University of New Hampshire’s Swasey Pool on Friday night.

Bomba’s 372.35 score not only topped Divsion I divers, including fellow Bronco and second place finisher Brittany Whiting, but it was the best in all the diving competiton in both divisions.

“I haven’t seen this kind of domination from a diver since Dave Phifer, who dove for me three years at Bishop Guertin,” said Alvirne coach Brendan McLaughlin. Phifer graduated five years ago. “Not only did Skyler threepeat but she beat every girl in state in all divisions.”

Whiting was second at 243.05 while Bishop Guertin’s Moira Thompson finished third at 228.45. Nashua South’s Sue Mai White was scratched from the competition.

Hanover’s Amelia Wallace won the Division II title at 364.00. In Division I boys, Bedford’s Alexander Beekman took the crown (321.40) while Nashua North’s James Bolton was fourth at 262.45.
