High School Highlights: Alvirne-Milford hockey wins first game

Boys hockey

Alvirne-Milford 8, Lebanon 3

The Admirals (1-0) start off the season strong, with a high offensive tempo.

After a 0-0 tie at the end of the first period. Lebanon scored the first goal and Anthony Viola scored his first of two goals to tie the game.

Alvirne-Milford controlled the rest of the game. Jake Natola tallied a hat trick to go along with an assist to lead the attack. Justin Carbonneau added two goals and Corey Gigourd netted one.

The Admirals have their first road game of the season Saturday against Kennett.

Bishop Brady 5,

Nashua North-Souhegan 0

John Natalie and Ryan Dancoes played well but it wasn’t enough in the season opener for both.

Brady scored twice in the first and opened things up with three in the second.

The Saber-Titans host Pinkerton on

Saturday.

Goffstown 10 , Merrimack 5

The Tomahawks (0-1) were doubled up by the Grizzlies in the season opener. Merrimack found the back of the net first, just 2:10 in the game with a goal by Drew Lemire.

Goffstown balanced out their attack and were able to take a 3-1 at the end of the first period. Zach Stimeling led the offense with two goals and Zach Richard scored one.

Merrimack heads to Timberlane on

Saturday.

Exeter 3, Bishop Guertin 2

The Cardinals (0-1) found the net leading the way with a 41-17 shots on goal advantage, they just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Sam Cronin and Chris Kiely had one goal a piece. Bishop Guertin faces Windham on Saturday.

Wrestling

Bishop Guertin 54, Portsmouth 4

The Cardinals took a dominating win in the home opener, taking nine victories

all by pin.

Winning for Guertin were Calvin Jozokas (120), Zach Rioux (138), Matt Frechette (145), James Murphy (152), Dan Franco (160), Brian Kukulski (170), Andrew Ha (182), Richard Ronzio (195), Aiden Szewczyk (220).

Next up for Bishop Guertin is the Nor’easter Invitational on Saturday.

Windham 45, Nashua South 33

The Panthers suffer their first loss in a close matchup with the Jaguars.

South picked up six wins, with Tom Cullerton (152), Nathaniel Tejeda (195), Nate Zalzal (220), Kyle O’Connor (285), Ryan Salemi (106), and Colby spencer (113) each contributing in the effort.

South’s next match is at the Nor’easter on Saturday.

Londonderry 59, Nashua North 13

Kevin Maldonado won by pin at 285, Michael Mathson won on a 5-1 decision at 113, and Andrew Tate won 10-1 at 138 for the Titans in the loss to Londonderry. North will head to the Nor’easter on

Saturday.

Hollis Brookline 42, Souhegan 24

The Cavaliers used six forfeits to advantage in the victory over the Sabers. Scott Annesser won by pin at 160 to grab Hollis Brookline’s only non forfeit victory.

The other winners were Seth Ponders (106), Brady Rogers (113), Tyler St. Pierre (182), Zack Brickner (195), Owen MacMillan (220), and Andrew Wink (285).

Souhegan’s James Raiser (pin, 126), Victor Ceballos (pin, 138), Sam Theriault (pin, 145), and Aidan Wilson (pin, 152) picked wins.

Hollis Brookline will host the Nor’easter on Saturday.

Girls basketball

Derryfield 31, Wilton-Lyndeborough 25 (Tuesday)

The Warriors (0-3) played their closest game of the young season, only to upended in the final stages.

Abby LeBlanc had a 17 point showing, to lead the Warriors in scoring. Wilton-Lyndeborough plays host to Sunapee on Friday.
