Cavaliers top North in volleyball; Milford settles for tie

Here’s a look at Wednesday’s high school action, as well as some of Tuesday’s late results:

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Hollis Brookline 3,

Nashua North 0

The 17-0 Cavaliers are one final match closer to an unbeaten season after a road 25-11, 25-13, 25-21 sweep of the Titans.

Maddie Norris had 20 kills and nine digs to lead the way, while other keys included Kaleigh Whalen (six kills, seven digs), Natalie Cok (five aces), Brodie Kelly (four kills) and Kyra Belden (32 assists, eight digs).

For North (7-10, Sarah St. Pierre had an ace to go with her five digs and two blocks. Other Titan contributors were Atlanta Ho (one ace, four kills, five digs), Emerson Martin (four digs, seven assists) and Alexis Miranda (five kills, one block).

The regular season wraps up Friday with North at Keene and Londonderry at HB.

Bishop Guertin 3,

Goffstown 0

The Cards are now 15-2 after winning by a tally of 25-15, 25-22, 25-20. Maddy Keating had five service aces to go with five digs, while Paola Matos added four aces and 14 digs. Rita Dow also had six kills and three blocks for the Cards, who wrap up the regular season with a big home match Friday vs. 16-1 Nashua South.

Londonderry 3,

Merrimack 1

The Tomahawks managed to take a game but it wasn’t enough in what looked to be a battle for the 15th and final Divison I tourney spot. As a result, Merrimack finishes the season at 5-13.

Campbell 3,

Portsmouth Christian 0

The Cougars won a couple of tough sets, 25-22 and 25-23 before getting the sweep with a 25-9 decisive third set to move to 11-3. Senior Olivia Garand had six aces, three kills and eight digs while also playing well were Meghan Gibbons (two aces, 10 kills, six digs), Mallory Reczko (one ace, eight kills, two blocks, one dig),

and Jordan Kanaley (three aces, two kills, 25 assists).

Campbell wraps up the regular season Friday at Newfound.

GIRLS SOCCER

Milford 3,

Pembroke 3

The Spartans (9-3-3-) were vicitimized by a Pembroke penalty kick goal with less than a minute to play in regulation that knotted the score. Due to darkness, no overtime was played.

Rachel Gizzonio had a pair of goals and Syd Thibault a single tally for Milford, who got 11 saves from goalie Jade Gregg with defender Renee Wilson helping out.

Milford heads to John Stark on Friday to wrap up the regular season.

BOYS SOCCER

Bishop Guertin 3,

Goffstown 2 (Tuesday)

Victor Martinez, Sean Kelly and Trent Porcelli all scored for the 4-10-1 Cards, who got a big penalty kick save by goalie Michael Poublon. Ryan Blow also played well in goal for Guertin, which wraps up the regular season tonight vs. Nashua South.

Manchester Central 5,

Alvirne 0 (Tuesday)

The 1-14 Broncos hung tough, trailing the Little Green just 1-0 until five minutes left in the first half of their final home game. Seniors Tom Granger, Garrett Lambert, Jake Natola, Jackson Romalhinho, Nicholas Cardenas, and Alex Clarke were honored before the game.

Alvirne finishes its season Friday at Manchester Memorial.

CROSS COUNTRY

Milford Jvs do well

The Spartan girls finished sixth in the Divison II-III Junior Varsity Championships, with Olivia Vogel (20th), Elisabeth Rodil (24), Brianna Berry (27), Jona Valazquez (29) and Anna Lydon (81st) running well.

For the Milford boys, Adam Robie(104th) and Quinton Santaniello (114) led the way.
