High School Highlights: Hollis Brookline baseball tops Oyster River

Hollis Brookline 8,

Oyster River 2

Joe Brown struck out 10, allowing five hits and two earned runs in a complete game effort for the Cavaliers (6-9). Kyle Hsu hit balls out of the park, Joe Messina had two hits including a home run, and Tyler MacDormand had four hits and three RBIs.

The Cavaliers keep their hot streak alive, winning six of the last seven.

Hollis Brookline hosts Windham on Wednesday in the final regular season game.

Wilton-Lyndeborough 9,

Sunapee 2 (Wednesday)

The Warriors are now 12-1 as Sean Brennan pitched five innings and allowed two hits while striking out five and twin brother Troy came in and closed it out allowing zero hits with one strikeout. Junior Neal Brennan broke it open with a two-run homer for a 5-2 lead in the sixth.

Softball

Nashua North 6,

Bishop Guertin 5

After falling in three straight games, the Titans (5-8) outlasted the Cardinals (3-12). Alexis Miranda was the hero for North hitting a single to bring in the winning run.

Abigail Little knocked in a double and later scored on a pass ball. Jacqueline Dumont went 2 for 4 with two RBI singles and Shannon Grady was phenomenal on defense making multiple plays in the infield.

Bishop Guertin’s Sara Hey went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate and Stephanie Coulombe also had a productive day going 2 for 4.

North hosts Concord on Monday and Bishop Guertin welcomes Pinkerton on Monday.

Alvirne 13, Nashua South 2

The Broncos got an early lead and didn’t hold back against the Panthers. Alvirne’s Alexis Charbonneau had two single with an RBI, Kayli Boucher had a double, Jenna Bradish hit a single up the middle; while Hayley Peaslee and Liz DeRosa contributed a double and triple respectively. Courtney Maricols started the game for the Broncos allowing 11 hits, two runs, and striking out five in six innings.

Nashua South’s Courtney Olsen (three hits), Sarah Picard, and Erica Frothingham all managed multiple hits.

Delia Callery hit the rubber for South surrendering 13 on 18 hits in six innings. Alvirne welcomes Salem on Monday and South hosts Manchester Central on Monday.

Sunapee 8,

Wilton-Lyndeborough 7 (Wednesday)

The Warriors, despite trailing 6-1 after three innings, rallied to go ahead 7-6 in the seventh. Sunapee however scored two runs on three hits in bottom of seventh. Five runs were unearned and WLC was hurt by some baserunning mistakes.

Leading the Warriors were Janel Machand, Emma Skell and Abby LeBlanc all with two hits.Lexi Balam took the loss despite giving up just three earned runs and striking out nine.

The Warriors host Farmington in a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Boys Lacrosse

Bishop Guertin 15,

Bedford 6

The Cardinals (15-0) come out on top on senior night. Brian Cameron led the team in points with six (two goals, four assists) and Sean Cameron added three goals and an assist. Brennan McInnis, Cam Fagan and Drew Hailey tallied two goals each; while Sam Prunier, Peyton Fisher, and Eric Poublon had one goal a piece. Bishop Guertin stays perfect when they head to Salem on Monday.

Girls Lacrosse

Winnacunnet 19,

Hollis Brookline 3

After winning the last four games, the Cavalier(9-4) lost to No.1 Winnacunnet. Cece Fetter ended the day with a goal and four draw controls. Kelsey Sweeney and Rachel Cerato scored one goal each. Tasha White had HB’s only assist on the day. Olivia Valentine made 12 saves in net behind a strong defensive game from Caroline Smith, Reagan Berry, Victoria Bruzik and Sydney Speir. Hollis Brookline hosts Manchester Memorial on Monday.

Kingswood 12, Milford 9

The Spartans (3-8) have dropped their last four games, after a loss on Thursday. Bre Degroot led the team with two goals. Tallying single goals for the Spartans were Meghan Wood, Lauren Deshong, Emily Flaherty, Caroline Boudreau and Ashley Wilder. Goalie Kaela Greska made four saves in net. Milford heads to Pembroke on Monday.

Boys Tennis

Exeter 8, Nashua North 1

The Titans were unable to finish the season on a high note with a loss to Exeter. North’s number two doubles team of Nathan Yeung and Carson Goh were the only winners at Exeter. North finishes the season at 6-8.

Hanover 7, Bishop Guertin 2

The Cardinals started off on a high note, with early wins from No. 2 Spencer Beek (8-6) and No. 5 Evan Butler (8-6). Bishop Guertin was swept in doubles play and hurt their chances of getting the win.

Hollis Brookline 8, ConVal 1

The Cavaliers finish off the regular season on a six game winning streak. Singles winners for the Cavs were No. 1 Nick Vahe (8-2), No. 2 Darius Paredis (8-2), No. 3 David Cherkassky (8-4), No. 5 Max Burns (8-2), and No. 6 Alex Anghel (8-5). Hollis Brookline swept in doubles competition getting wins from No. 1 Vahe/Cherkassky, No. 2 Paredis/Anghel (8-5), and No. 3 Ben Zielinski/Burns (8-4). Hollis Brookline awaits their playoff opponent.

Souhegan 9, Pembroke 0

The Sabers finish its undefeated season by blanking Pembroke. Singles winners were No.1 Matt Lapsley (8-0), No.2 Sam Goddard (8-0), No. 3 Dale Estes (8-0), No. 4 Josh Lacaillade (8-1), No. 5 Michael Dodge (8-4), and No. 6 Patrick Conway (8-1). Winning in doubles were No. 1 Lapsley/Goddard (8-0), No. 2 Estes/Lacaillade (8-2), and No. 3 Dodge/Cam Fritz (8-3). Souhegan ends the season 13-0 and awaits its playoff opponent.

Girls Tennis

Souhegan 8, Hollis Brookline 1

The Sabers improved to 5-8, getting singles wins by Lila Morgan, Abby Tesconi, Anna Goyette, Zoe Garvey and Sophia Husainy before sweeping doubles. HB’s lone win came at No. 4 by Samantha Roundlett. The Cavs’ season ends at 2-12.

Exeter 7, Nashua North 2

The Titans end the season with a loss to Exeter on Thursday. Liz Dion had a nice win at No .2 singles (8-4). The team of Dion/Brenna Rose pulled out an exciting win at No. 1 doubles, coming back from a 2-7 deficit to win 9-7 in their final match as a pair. North finished the season at 1-13.

Souhegan 9, Pembroke 0

The Sabers were hitting on all cylinders and beat Pembroke and dominant fashion. Singles winners were No.1 Lila Morgan (8-2), No. 2 Abby Tesconi (8-4), No.3 Anna Goyette (8-2), No. 4 Zoe Garvey (8-0), No. 5 Lily Hipp (8-0), and No. 6 Sofia Husainy (8-0). Winning in doubles were the teams of No. 1 Morgan/Tesconi (8-1), No. 2 McNally/Blume (8-6), and No. 3 Kayser/Maurais (9-7). Souhegan finishes the regular season at 6-8.
