Salem knocks Nashua South out of hockey tourney

No. 8 Salem 7, No. 9 South-Pelham 3

The playoffs didn’t last long for the Kings as they gave up four goals in the third period (two empty-netters) and saw their 6-13 season end late Wednesday night at the Salem Icenter.

“I’m happy we made the tournament, especially with such a young team,” Kings coach Shawn Connors said.

South Pelham got goals from Johnny Pinksten, Nolan Harvey and Matt Diprizio, and was within 3-2 in the third, but the Blue Devils dominated the rest of the way. Adam Gagnon and Nate Serrentino split time in goal for the Kings, who lose just Gagnon, Harvey and Diprizio to graduation.

Salem (9-9-1) moves on to play No. 1 Concord Saturday night in the quarterfinals.
