MVHS defeats Sabers

In a physical game the Sabers (3-2) were outlasted in overtime by the Pride. The game finished with a melee inside the six yard box, when Souhegan had trouble clearing the ball.

Valley’s Pedro Godoi smashed it in from close range to end the game. In the defensive effort Sabers goalie Matt Greany had 10 saves. Souhegan will play Trinity on September 15th.

Not only are the Sabers undefeated they have yet to give up a goal. Maddie Morrissette got things started with a feed from Marlena Culver, followed by Savannah Behn (assisted by Kate Hollister) and Christa Vordenburg rounding out the scoring. Souhegan heads to Trinity on September 15th.

Field Hockey

Timberlane 6,

Nashua South 0

The Panthers remain winless on the season when they were defeated by a tough Timberlane team. South goalie Paige Murphy did everything she could to keep her team in the game by making 27 saves in net.

Also, playing well on defense were Hannah Hansen and Abby Rowe. South travels to Bedford on Monday.


The Cavaliers (3-1) didn’t have their best performance, as they were up handed by Windham (202), Kennett (213), and tied with Bishop Brady at 230. Chris Cadman and Pat MacDonald finished at 43 with Matt Dias shooting a 45. Cavaliers next matchup is on Tuesday against St. Thomas Aquinas,Windham, and Pembroke.

The Broncos (3-3) were able to hand Exeter their first loss of the season, when they defeated them with a score of 194 to 197, while Central finished with 233. Alvirne had four players shoot in the thirties (Tyler Lizotte – 37, Jess Lortie – 38, Jackie Dowd – 39, Oliver Thomas – 39) and Ryan Santos ended the day with a 41. The Broncos play Bishop Guertin and Salem on Friday.
