Five locals win Nor’Easter weight classes; Cavaliers win team title

HOLLIS – Five area wrestlers took first at the Hollis Brookline Nor’Easter Invitational, but it was the host Cavaliers who won the tournament, despite finishing with no individual champs.

Both Nashua North and Bishop Guertin had two wrestlers finish first, while Alvirne’s Nick Milinazzo was the 126-pound champ and was named the tournament’s outstanding wrestler.

North’s Cam Bennett (132) and John Sweeney (170) both won their weight class, with Sweeney beating HB’s Wyatt Farwell in the final, 6-4. Bishop Guertin’s Brandon Levesque pinned North’s David Muite in the 152 final, while Jordan Rowlette took first at 106.

The Cavs got three seconds, including Farwell, Andrew Butler (160) and Garrett Klausner (120). Christian Lopez (152) was third and Nathaniel Lindsay (132) and Kayne Robert (195) were both fourth, as HB recorded 153 points to finish ahead of Bedford (150.5) and Windham 141.

North was fifth with 127 points, as Cole Nickerson (106) and Wayne Nolette (145) each finished fourth.

Campbell took sixth with 117 points, as Tyler McCrady (138) and Marc Boomhower (145) both finished second. Michael Killoran (220) and Adam Hayward (285) were both third while Dayton Chandonnet (113) was fourth.

Alvirne finished seventh with 113 points, getting Milinazzo’s win along with thirds from Taylor Thyne (120), Evan Manning (182) and Kyle Heidbreder (195).

Merrimack took eighth with 98 points, as Lucas Gardenour came in second at 220. Mitchell McMahon (160) came in third and Brendan Parr (113) was fourth.

Bishop Guertin came in 14th overall with 67 points while Nashua South was 15th with 40. Kevin Melanson (132) came in third for the Panthers.
