Bishop Guertin’s Sedlar one stroke short against Pinkerton’s Thibodeau

By Staff | Oct 6, 2014

Bishop Guertin senior Chelsea Sedlar came up one stroke short of defending her title on Saturday.

The Merrimack native shot an even par 71 over 18 holes in the championship flight of the NHIAA Girls Individual Golf Tournament at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands in Salem, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Pinkerton Academy freshman Lauren Thibodeau’s 1-under 70 for the round.

The duo was tied with 35s at the turn, but Thibodeau grabbed a two-stroke lead with an eagle on the par-4 11th hole. Sedlar gained one stroke back with a par on 14 as Thibodeau bogeyed. Sedlar then tied things up with a birdie to Thibodeau’s par on 16th. All square with 61s, Sedlar would bogey 17 to Thibodeau’s par and they both finished with pars on 18 for the one-stroke difference.

The separation between the top two and third was 10 strokes, as St. Thomas’s Sara Feith earned that spot with an 81. Alvirne’s Jessica Lortie was fourth with an 85 and Nashua South’s Sarah Hansen, the only other local in the field, finished 15th with a 109.
