Kennett wins, Hollis Brookline fifth at Waterville Valley

Hollis Brookline’s Trevor Cooke was the lone area skier to finish Top 10 in the Division II Boys Alpine Championships at Waterville Valley on Tuesday.

Cooke was 10th in the slalom with a two-run combined time of 1 minute, 6.87 seconds, helping the Cavaliers to fifth as a team with 598 points. HB was 167 points behind first place Kennett (765 points). Hanover (735), Plymouth (695.5) and Lebanon (644) finished two-three-four, while Oyster River (593), Souhegan (553), Kingswood (538), Goffstown (513) and Con-Val (506) rounded out the Top 10.

Milford (476) finished 11th, followed by Windham (474), Portsmouth (472), Pembroke (390) and John Stark (211.5).

Other individual locals in the Top 50 for slalom were: Souhegan’s Wilson Ezequelle (16th place, 1:09.95 combined time), Patrick Noble (36th, 1:15.42), Colin Titus (39th, 1:16.99) and Mitch Greaney (45th. 1:20.75); Milford’s David Spalding (21st, 1:12.02), Devon Crawford (40th, 1:17.62) and Jimmy Spalding (48th, 1:23.27); and HB’s Andy Cook (23rd, 1:13.05) and Luke Martin (34th, 1:14.77).

Area skiers grabbing Top 50 spots in the giant slalom were: HB’s Paul Menard (13th, 1:13.12), Martin (18th, 1:14.29) and Cooke (36th, 1:17.08); Souhegan’s Trevor Brown (25th, 1:15.57), Noble (41st, 1:18.86), Greaney (46th, 1:19.78) and Jasper Jones (50th, 1:21.61); and Milford’s David Spalding (27th, 1:15.76), Crawford (34th, 1:17.02) and Jack Watton (40th, 1:18.74).

Division IV cross country skiing is now scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Bedford Legacy Park, while Division I cross country was rescheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19 at Bedford Legacy Park. Division II Alpine girls is TBA.
