Nashua North leads locals at Division I meet
The Nashua High School North girls Alpine team had a strong showing the Giant Slalom at Monday’s Division I championship, as the Titans placed sixth overall in the meet at Mount Sunapee.
Exeter finished first with a score of 755, the fourth title in a row for the Blue Hawks, while Pinkerton and Bedford tied for second with 698. The Bulldogs won the tiebreaker. Keene took fourth and Concord rounded out the top five. Bishop Guertin finished eighth and Nashua South took 11th, while Merrimack was 13th. The top 10 individuals in each event will compete in the Meet of Champions on March 5.
Carolyn Marquis of North was the top local finisher in the Giant Slalom, placing ninth overall in 1 minute, 14.83 seconds, while teammate Rachel Sullivan finished 18th in 1:19.13 and Bailey Ruhm was 20th (1:19.36).
Bishop Guertin’s Morgan Hughes came in 13th, finishing in 1:19.15, and Emily Doyle was 22nd for the Cardinals with a time of 1:20.05.
South’s Alyssa Freeman finished in 1:19.79 to take 21st.
Hughes was the top local finisher in the slalom, placing 10th in 1:23.43, while Doyle came in 19th in 1:30.84.
Marquis led North, finishing in 1:23.58 to take 11th, while Ruhm came in 13th in 1:24.25.
Katie Spencer was 31st, finishing in 1:41.53, to lead Merrimack, while Freeman was 32nd (1:41.8) to finish first for the Panthers.
