St. Joseph committed to its Milford center
An article in The Telegraph last week may have given the impression that the future of Milford Medical Center is uncertain. Nothing could be further from the truth. (April 24: “St. Joseph mulls Milford facility future”)
The future of the center is not “up in the air” as the article stated. In fact, the future of the center has never been more secure.
We have allocated $5 million to invest in the facility and improve and enhance services to Milford and the surrounding communities. We do not have plans to discontinue any services currently being offered.
Additionally, the article provided general details about urgent care-type facilities, specifically as related to accepting Medicare and Medicaid. That information is not related to any plans we have in Milford or elsewhere in our system.
Furthermore, St. Joseph Healthcare is a mission-driven organization, and it would not be in keeping with our mission to exclude any patients from our facilities based on their insurance type or lack thereof. We have no plans to offer services not available to Medicare or Medicaid patients in Milford or anywhere in our system.
Over the next few months, we’ll be meeting with community leaders, residents and our dedicated employees to determine how we can improve our offerings and enhance the services we provide.
We are proud of our long history of partnering with the Milford community to offer much-needed health care services to its residents, and we are thrilled to be able to make this considerable investment to continue that tradition long into the future.
