O’Brien ALEC letter hardly surprising
Responding to the April 18 letter from House Speaker William O’Brien (“ALEC latest target of smear campaign”), I recall the speaker invited members of the New Hampshire Legislature to attend a meeting with the American Legislative Exchange Council on Feb. 9.
ALEC is an organization that tries to influence lawmakers to put forth legislation that represents powerful out-of-state interests, such as Exxon Mobil Corp., Walmart and the Koch Foundation.
Some of the radical legislation that Republicans have been pushing in New Hampshire uses ideas and proposals from ALEC.
It is a moot point that O’Brien has chosen to become a member of ALEC – he already seems to follow their bidding.
