Officer prevented certain car accident

Letter to the Editor

On April 3, at about 7:40 a.m., as I was on my way to work and had a remarkable experience.

I was stopped at a red light on Main Street, near the hospital. As the light was about to change, and I started to move my foot off the brake, flashing lights suddenly appeared on my left.

I stepped on the brake as a police officer cut across four lanes of traffic in front of me. It was then that I noticed a car to my right going the wrong way on a one-way street, about to enter Main Street right in front of me.

The officer stopped his car in front of the woman, so she could not go any further. The quick actions of this officer prevented what could have been a deadly accident.

While I do not know who the officer was, I would like to thank him for doing an outstanding job.

If not for your immediate reaction, I am quite certain one or more of us traveling that day would have been injured.
