Why don’t politicians want us to be happy?

Are you happy? Or are you whining and unhappy over losing your job, your home, stocks tanking, your pension plan vanishing, the rise in property taxes and increasing costs of gasoline and heating oil?

Politicians are happy with the status quo. They love the mayor, taxing downtown merchants, whatever makes a taxpayer unhappy.

You want a politician that makes you happy? Here’s one.

He said happiness of the people was the purpose of government. A virtuous government would most likely promote general happiness.

Unfortunately, he died in 1826. Name, John Adams, second president of the United States, who fought for freedom and fashioning our Declaration of Independence.

You will be happy when jobs return from overseas and you can pay your mortgage, buy a new car, some new clothes and eat out occasionally. When politicians stop making teacher’s pets out of developers and provide for all taxpayers’ needs like well-maintained streets and sufficient school textbooks.

You’ll be happy when politicians stop jailing citizens who steal a loaf of bread while preferred officials “lose” millions of dollars or cheat on their taxes without raising a political eyebrow.
