When the arts center was being pushed by city hall and the downtown crowd, we were told there will be no problem raising the $4 million in seed money. You folks remember that don’t you? Here we are, eight months later with no money raised. Now, the city hall crowd tells us that they spent $50,000 on a ” fundraising consultant.” Nice work if you can get it. Now, we hear of a ” tax credit consultant.” How many taxpayer dollars will that cost? Will that money come from parking fees also? Someone needs to explain to Mr. Cummings that all city dollars are taxpayer dollars. When this arts project implodes – there will be no one taking any blame for the failure, and the taxpayers will be stuck for the cleanup.
