It’s hard not to have political overload these days. There is so much on the line, and I think we are all just doing our best to keep up with the news. But then Trump nominated Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. This is different because this decision will effect us for years after Trump is out of office.
The rights of everyone in this country will hang in the balance for decades to come because of this vacancy. For example, in March, a feral court in California ordered the EPA to put into effect safeguards against smog. Anyone who’s lived in high smog areas knows how important this is to regulate. The EPA estimated the order would prevent thousands of asthma attacks in children every year.
Judges have so much responsibility for the well-being and health of everyone alive today and generations that follow us. With everything going on, we can’t lose sight of that. We have to remember that law, that judges, are meant to be subjective, free from corporate greed and for the people.
