Get rid of Buchanan

Pat Buchanan’s lamentations over national purity serve no purpose except to give succor to the Four Horsemen of the Trump apocalypse; racism, xenophobia, misogyny, and homophobia. Diversity is simply another way of describing America as a melting pot of a variety of people; however, diversity is not simply about diversity of DNA, it refers to diversity of culture, thought, perspective, and innovation. There are endless examples throughout our country’s history that show how diversity has strengthened America. These include, for example, the Code Talkers who were Native Americans who used their native languages to thwart enemy surveillance of communications during World War II, and the Tuskagee Airmen, an all African-American fighter pilot unit (“Red Tails”) who flew more than 15,000 missions protecting US bombers during World War II. Diversity has not only strengthened America in war, but also in academia and industry as well with immigrants coming to our country as prestigious as Albert Einstein, Enrico Fermi, and Nicola Tesla.

The Telegraph can improve the opinion pages greatly if the editors would eliminate Buchanan’s columns on national purity, which are not only an affront to the reasoned reader, but also to America’s World War II generation who sacrificed so much to rid the world of Buchanan’s perverted “national purity” ideology and the resultant malignancy known as fascism.
