Where’s the appeal with Donald Trump?

By Staff | Jun 16, 2016

I just don’t see the appeal.

Trump supporters think that he is some business wizard who will save the economy and make people rich, but he is really a self-aggrandizing braggart whose failed ventures have lost money for many.

Wall Street banks don’t like to deal with him because they consider him litigious and unreliable. His primary talent as a businessman is real estate investment, but even then he is not considered a major player. Where would he be today without a father who built a $200 million fortune?

When Donald Trump ventures outside of his comfort zone, the results are often disastrous. Consider his four bankruptcies: Trump Taj Mahal in 1991, New York’s Plaza Hotel in 1992, Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts in 2004, and Trump Hotels and Casino Resorts in 2009.

If Trump wins the presidency, he will have the difficult task of overseeing the entire executive branch while managing our relationship with the world, all while proposing domestic policy and handling incidental crises that come his way.

In his book "Surviving at the Top," he wrote, "The same assets that excite me in the chase, often, once they are acquired, leave me bored. For me, you see, the important thing is the getting, not the having." How committed to running our country will he be if he is elected?

I hope he will not be given the chance to add this to his resume in four years: "Tried to run the U.S. and failed."
