Sanders has been right on world issues

By Staff | Nov 30, 2015

In politics, it is easy for politicians to pander to our worst fears and darkest impulses. But a true leader stays calm, studies the issue at hand, and recommends a course of action based not on what is popular, but what is right. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ response to the Paris terror attacks and the Syrian refugee crisis shows he is exactly the person we need as president.

Rather than casting suspicion on all refugees fleeing the very terrorist violence exacted upon Paris, Sanders puts the blame exactly where it belongs: on ISIS. Bernie Sanders had the sound judgement and foresight 12 years ago to vote against the Iraq War because he believed the attendant destabilization in the region would create an epidemic of anti-Americanism and terrorism. He was right. He is the only candidate who has continually made the right calls on matters of foreign policy.

As the son of Polish immigrants, Sen. Sanders knows that throughout its history, our country has been a beacon of hope for people fleeing violence and oppression all over the world. Each successive group of immigrants and refugees has added to the fabric and culture of our country. We are a nation of immigrants, founded by immigrants. As president, Sanders will protect our country from terrorism while still welcoming refugees to the safety and promise of our shores.
