Shame on board for not supporting staff

By Staff | Nov 1, 2015

Shame on the Nashua Board of Education.

I work for the Nashua School District. I am honored and proud to be part of the amazing group of staff working for Nashua. We are a work family.

"Shame on you" is intended to express strong feelings and deep disappointment toward a choice that was made to privatize custodial services.

Shame on Nashua school board members. One can only guess that they are not intimately familiar with the workings of a public school on a daily basis. That perhaps their family or friends are not employed as a building maintenance staff/specialist. They aren’t on the receiving end of the many ways in which these specialists go above and beyond to maintain a high level of integrity and pride.

The Nashua School District website states that the strengths of the district are "progressive and innovative culture … and highly dedicated staff." These highly dedicated staff include our building maintenance population. They are our colleagues, our superheroes, part of our culture, our friends. Nothing and noone can replace or feel the intrinsic commitment inspired by belonging to a group that is your "work" family. Shame on board members for not supporting the staff, families, students and community members who "get it" and have respectfully requested our family stay intact. Shame on them for not upholding that which contributes to how great the Nashua School District is.
