Tax cuts without revenue is ‘risk in hope of a gain’
The speaker of the New Hampshire House is insisting the governor vetoed the budget because she was against a tax cut for 35,000 businesses. Today the governor agrees to a tax cut for 35,000 businesses if the legislators have a plan to replace the unpaid revenue.
Let’s face it, losing revenue from 35,000 businesses creates a severe funding challenge to home health care services, the developmentally disabled and mental health communities.
The economy is growing, jobs are plentiful. The legislative notion that losing revenue is a catalyst for attracting new taxpaying companies to New Hampshire is highly speculative. A risk in hope of a gain.
