Fiorina’s naive climate change stance

By Staff | Jun 14, 2015

As a business owner and a woman, it is satisfying to see someone like Carly Fiorina – a successful businesswoman – running for president in the Republican Party.

But no matter how encouraged I am by Carly Fiorina’s background, I worry about her dangerously naive views on climate change.

In an interview on April 6, Fiorina said that environmental regulations are “disabling our own economy” and “crushing people’s possibilities.” For someone who acknowledges that climate change is a “big issue,” she couldn’t be more misinformed about how policies to combat it – or the lack thereof – impact businesses and families.

Investing in alternative energy saves money and boosts businesses like mine. And encouraging others to do the same enables our community to thrive. Carly Fiorina refuses to do anything about a critical issue she says she cares about—and that’s cause for concern, in my book. But more disappointing is her failure to recognize a smart business move that’s staring her – and all of us – right in the face.
