Boehner holding budget hostage

By Staff | Oct 11, 2013

House Speaker John Boehner is presently holding the federal budget hostage. He has insisted that President Barack Obama drop his employee health insurance policy and sign on for one of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) options. Boehner has apparently lost sight of the fact that the ACA is a program for the uninsured, underinsured or people who think they may lower their premiums going through the ACA network of providers.

I currently have primary and secondary health care coverage. I am very happy with my current coverage and its cost. Nothing in the ACA dictates that I must change to one of the ACA plans. I intend to maintain my current insurance. I think the president should have the same rights to which I am entitled. If he is happy with his current insurance, he should not be forced change.

In addition, this shutdown is costly and will cause delays for months after the it ends. Employees will be using their time playing “catch up” with their work. It has been decreed that all furloughed employees are going to be paid retroactively for lost wages when the shutdown is ended. Boehner needs to let them get back to work, rather than paying them (retroactively) for not working.
