Lawmaker refuses to obey unconstitutional laws

Rep refuses to obey
unconstitutional laws

Try to imagine our government passing a law that would make it a felony for anyone to publicly speak against a person’s right to keep and bear arms.

If a law to stifle your free speech was enacted for any reason, what would you do? Throw spit balls?

If you remove the teeth from and declaw a lion, all you have is a large kitten that roars. After a while, government will find a
way to silence that roar permanently.

You can’t pick and choose the constitutional amendments you like and throw the rest under the bus. The New Hampshire and federal constitutions are the law of this land.

If you wish to repeal an amendment, do so by using the same process the majority of people used to form them in the first place.

As for me, I refuse to obey any unconstitutional law, but I will exercise my right under Part 1, Article 2a, of the New Hampshire Constitution: “All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.”

I took an oath as a Marine, law enforcement officer and now a state legislator to defend and protect both constitutions, and I intend to do just that.

Rep. Dan Dumaine

R-Auburn
