Greed is behind climate change issue

Letter to the Editor

I am inclined to differ with the views expressed by one of the Republicans that no evidence exists that global warming is a man-made phenomenon (The Telegraph, June 19). The collective indifference of a great mass of people to the evil effects of global warming has few parallels in world history.

Greed is the root cause of civilizational decay. There must come a time when people will realize that they are foolishly condemning their own children to destruction by emulating unsustainable modes of development. Governments are no doubt taking proactive steps to stem the tide, but this alone is not enough. Environmentally progressive laws need individuals to take up the causes of global warming. Governmental intervention or political resolve will not change things. ...
