Tell full story on science
The notion of politicians being self-serving is not new or rare. Still, journalists should call out blatant hypocrisy when they see it.
One clear case of this seems to be the whole idea of politicians who supposedly believe in science. This now seems to be a rallying cry for the left, as they push the concept that human activity is destroying the planet through climate change.
At this point, it seems clear that climate change does occur – and that human activity, at minimum, contributes to the process. Nevertheless, many on the left accuse President Donald Trump of denying the science of climate change.
“Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are very likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position,” NASA states on its website.
Because the NASA administrator is appointed by president, it seems Trump would order NASA to remove this statement if he really disagreed with it.
However, as liberals enthusiastically endorse the science of climate change, they ignore the science of biology and anatomy. This is because these branches of science tell us that once a fetus leaves the body of a female who had been carrying it – and said fetus is then able to breathe, cry and has a heartbeat – this is a human being.
In the 1990s, President Bill Clinton said abortion should be “safe, legal and rare.” We wonder if Clinton recognizes the Democratic Party of 2019, which advocates the killing of children who are actually born alive in the name of “reproductive health care.”
“Tonight, I voted NO on yet another partisan attack on reproductive health care. Women, families and their doctors are capable of making these complicated medical decisions without government interference,” U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., tweeted Monday after she and 43 other Democratic senators voted to defeat the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
This proposed law would have required doctors to provide medical care to children “accidentally” born alive during botched abortions. Because only 53 senators voted in favor of the measure, including three Democrats from states Trump carried in 2016, it did not meet the 60-vote requirement to end a filibuster.
The extreme power Planned Parenthood abortionists now wield over the Democratic Party seems comparable to the power oil, natural gas and coal lobbyists have over many Republicans when it comes to climate change.
Fortunately, another branch of science is astronomy, which teaches us that all of these earthly squabbles are really just, like the words of the 1970s hit song, “Dust in the Wind.”
