Raymond Albert Daoust

Raymond Albert Daoust, 76, of Hudson, NH formerly of Westford, MA died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, MA after a one year battle with ALS.

He was happily married to Blanche L. (Lizotte) Daoust with whom he would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.

He was born in Fitchburg, MA, the son of the late Joseph and Eleanor (Rouisse) Daoust. He was a graduate of Fitchburg High School with the class of 1953.

Following high school graduation Raymond enlisted with the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS K.D. Bailey until being honorably discharged in June of 1958.

Ray was employed for many years as a Supervisor with the Lowell National Parks until his retirement in 2001.

He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church in N. Chelmsford, MA.

He was a former member of the American Powerboats Association and he enjoyed stock outboard racing with his sons. He especially enjoyed weekends with his wife and fellow boaters and dear friends at Badger Island Marina in Kittery, Maine. He was a member of the Westford Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Ray was a talented craftsman who spent endless hours in his garage. He was especially committed to raising his granddaughter, Elizabeth.

Besides his loving wife, Blanche, he is survived by two sons, Steven Daoust of Hudson, NH, Kevin Daoust and his wife, Tyda, of Merrimack, NH; two daughters, Karen Sampson and her husband, Joseph, of Londonderry, NH, Eleanor Bielawski and her husband, Paul of Nashua, NH; a brother-in-law, Robert Lizotte and his wife Linda of Leominster, MA; two sisters-in-law, Jane Lizotte of Littleton, MA, Rita Bissette-Beek of Pepperell, MA; eight cherished grandchildren, Joey and Nick Sampson, Lindsey, Samantha, and Elizabeth Daoust, Kelly and her husband, Robert Henderson, Ashley and Alexandra Bielawski, four stepgrandchildren, Pam Grygiel, Victor and Jason Paquette, Seeda Sam-Sok, one stepgreat-grandchild, Amber Grygiel, as well as many nieces, nephews and several close family friends.

He was predeceased by his sons, Mark Daoust, John and his wife Linda (Rogers) Daoust all of Westford, MA.

Visiting hours Wednesday 5 to 8 p.m. at the DOLAN FUNERAL HOME 106 MIDDLESEX ST. CHELMSFORD, with a funeral Thursday at 10 a.m. from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Burial in NH Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
