Anna Natalie (Jorgenson) Fairfield

Anna Natalie (Jorgenson) Fairfield, 91, of Wilton, New Hampshire, passed away on February 5, 2012 at the Elms Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Milford, New Hampshire. She was born October 7th, 1920 in Winthrop, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Peterson) Jorgenson. She was a graduate of Winthrop High School.

Anna married her late husband, Winston Lawrence Fairfield, in 1939 and during their 72 years of marriage lived in Arlington and Wilmington, MA, where they raised their family. They later moved back to Wilton where they lived for another 30 years farming, raising sheep and hosting many, many family gatherings.

Anna and Winston enjoyed traveling in their retirement. They drove across the United States stopping along the way to visit family and friends. They greatly enjoyed several trips to Alaska, as well as a trip to Sweden to visit where Anna’s family came from.

Anna was a very strong and independent woman. Her eyes were as blue and as deep as the sea and her heart was filled with unending love.

Anna was a selfless woman who instilled in her children strong moral values and an understanding of the beauty of life. She attended every sports competition her children were in, from basketball, to football, to track. And until the end, she loved to sit and enjoy a good game on TV.

Her cookie jar was never empty and she was always ready for company. Anna loved to be with others, to spend time talking and enjoying friendships, as well as her many hobbies: knitting, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and preserving food.

She loved her horse and pony, dogs, cats and the sheep. Her thanksgiving dinners were masterfully accomplished each and every year. She was the Matriarch of her extended family, keeping everyone connected.

Anna is survived by her 2 sons, Winston Fairfield Jr. and his wife Pamela of Brockton, MA and Jon Fairfield and his wife Carole of Bonita Springs, FL; 1 daughter, Tana Lilienthal and her husband Peter of South Newfane, VT; 3 sisters-in-law, Christine Sonn of Greenfield, MA, Margaret Shaw of Wilton, NH and Ruth Jorgenson of Burlington, MA; 2 brothers-in-law, Alvin Fairfield of Concord, NH and Robert Lorrette of Mont Vernon, NH; 8 grandchildren, Kelly Leonard, Kimberly Kelley, Craig Fairfield, Lea Patnode, Jenna Riley, and Erika, Anneliese, and Britt Lilienthal; 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, and Sarah Leonard, Devin, Rylie, and Casey Kelley, Brett and Brooke Patnode, and Kayla, Hannah, Sophia, and Sydney Riley; along with many loving nieces, nephews and life-long friends.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Arthur and Carl Jorgenson and 1 sister, Helen Tobiasson.
