Ruth Claire MacKinnon

Ruth Claire (Kelly) MacKinnon, 82, of Litchfield, died at St Joseph Hospital in Nashua on Monday January 2, 2012, following a brief illness.

She was born in Stoneham, MA on May 15, 1929, a daughter of the late Julian and Velvin (Alley) Kelly. She was the wife of John “Jack” R. MacKinnon of Litchfield, whom she married on April 1, 1951.

She was educated in Stoneham, MA where she graduated from Stoneham High School. While in high school she received a letter in basketball.

She was a resident of Litchfield for the past 43 years.

For twenty years she was a sales secretary for RdF Corp in Hudson.

For the greater part of her life, she was a devoted Air Force wife following her husband in his career in the United States Air Force. She was also a dedicated mother to her children.

She was an active member of the Litchfield Presbyterian Church and attended Nashua Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her husband of 60 years, she is survived by two sons, John Mackinnon, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Londonderry, and David MacKinnon and his wife Jenifer of Amherst; a daughter, Vicki Kress and her husband James of Manchester; six grandchildren, Sara MacKinnon of Pelham and her fiancé Gerry Hunt, Emily Hebron and her husband Travis of Tilton, Katie MacKinnon of Portland, Oregon, Daniel MacKinnon of Warwick, RI and his fiancé, Devon Grief, Hannah MacKinnon of Amherst and Catherine Kress of Breckenridge, Colorado and her fiancé Michael Schaaf; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Matilda Hebron.

SERVICES: There are no visiting hours. At Ruth’s request, services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial donation to the charity of one’s choice.
