Robert O. Plante Jr.

Robert O. Plante, Jr. passed away on July 5, 2019, with his family by his side, at his home in Hudson, NH, at the age of 82. Bob was born on May 9, 1937, in Nashua, NH. He was the son of the late Robert O. Plante and Rita Savard.

Bob honorably served in the United States Army and was stationed in West Germany from 1953-1957. After returning home, he married Betty Lilley of Hudson, where they settled and raised five children. Family summer vacations were often taken in their motorhome, which Bob drove as far as California. Bob owned and operated Robert Plante Trucking for over 30 years, always going the extra mile for his customers. Bob loved to work and keep busy. If he wasn’t working in his garage, he was working in his yard. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a big fan of Dale Earnhardt and did a bit of drag racing himself in his early days. When questions about cars came up, Bob always had the answers, and would often help family and friends with a repair or an oil change right in his own garage, where he had every tool imaginable. He was known by his friends and family as generous and kind, always willing to lend a hand, offer advice, and was a truly wonderful husband, father and friend.

Bob is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty (Lilley), his children Mary Lou Kulak and her husband Stanley of Litchfield, Kevin Plante and his wife Karen of Deering, Cricket Trudel and her husband Scott of Nashua, Roberta Vadney of Palm Bay, FL, Vicki Abbott and her husband Aaron of Hudson and his four sisters, Carol Desrochers of Vermont, Shirley Boyd of Florida, Janet Davenport of Virginia, and Susan Shea of Florida, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on July 15, 2019, at the Alvirne Memorial Chapel, 160 Derry Road, Hudson, NH. Burial will immediately follow at Hills Farm Cemetery located behind the Alvirne Memorial Chapel.
