Roger W. Moore
Roger W. Moore, 85, of Sanford, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough.
He was born on March 12, 1933 to Robert and Evelyn (Winslow) Moore in Marlborough, MA where he grew up and graduated from St. Laurence Academy.
After school Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army and served for three years during the Korean Conflict.
He then married Joyce Herrick and together they raised three children.
After retiring from working “corporate life”, he went to work as the maintenance manager at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Litchfield, NH, which he enjoyed very much and remained there for fifteen years and served as a Deacon as well.
Roger was a wise man who had a great sense of humor. He was a devoted family man who had a special affection for his grandchildren. The time he spent with them was of utmost importance.
Above all, he was always willing to talk with anyone and share his faith in Jesus.
He is predeceased by his parents.
Survivors include his wife of sixty one years, Joyce Moore, his daughter Janet Cloutier and her husband Mark, of DE, his son, Paul Moore, his daughter Laurel and her husband Kerry, of Sanford, a grandson Brian Cloutier and his wife Megan, of MD, two granddaughters, Stephanie Preston and her husband Dalton of WI, and Meghan Chalmers of Sanford, a great grandchildren, Daniel Cloutier and Baby Preston (who is on the way).
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at 10:30 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church, 47 High Street, Sanford. Burial will be held at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in the spring.
