Carrie Kathleen ‘Kay’ Doody

Sep 16, 2018

Carrie Kathleen ‘Kay’ Doody, formerly of Hudson, NH, Hollis, NH and Groton, MA, died enfolded in serene peace on August 29, 2018. Born on November 19, 1931 in Methuen, MA, she was the daughter of the late James Macfarlane and Carrie (Olesen) Macfarlane. Kay was married to her late loving husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Doody for 63 glorious years.

Kay graduated from Leominster High School and earned her Associates Degree in Business from Mount Wachusett Community College. Employed by Digital Equipment Company for over 25 years and the Army Corps of Engineers, she thoroughly loved her work and always gave her unparalleled best.

Kay is deeply remembered as a dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother and good friend. Because of her abiding Faith, her passion involved the caring of others. Known as an accomplished seamstress, she made clothes for her daughters as they grew. She continued to provide service to others throughout every community she lived in and was active in the Pepperell Senior Center, especially with the Pen Pal program which she fostered for many years. Whether volunteering at the Veterans Hospital, or assisting with the crafts fair at her church, Kay was readily available to anyone in need. She adored music and loved to sing and play the piano. Many other gifts such as quilting, creating with crafts, tending to her beautiful rose and flower gardens, canning, being an avid bird watcher, cooking and traveling, adorned the lives of others. Her Love of God and her Church gave her the strength and courage to do all that she gave to this world.

Kay is lovingly survived by her three daughters and son-in-laws: Sheila and Joseph Mitchell, Merrimack, NH; Nancy and Dana Sargent, Hudson, NH; Karen and Henry Montanari, Groton, MA; six grandchildren, Kimberly Lenney, Shirley, MA; Benjamin and Brandie Sargent, Hudson, NH; Heidi Montanari and Tim Jones, Littleton, MA; Krista Montanari and Paul Finley, Greenfield, NH; Robert Mitchell, Dover, NH; Jillian Mitchell, Bedford, NH; and five great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service and Reception will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 11AM at the First Church, 1 Concord Street, Nashua, NH. All are welcome to attend.

Donations may be made in her memory to the First Church of Nashua, 1 Concord Street, Nashua, NH, 03064.
