Joseph W. DuBois Jr.

Joseph W. DuBois, Jr., 73, of Nashua passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA after a lengthy and courageous battle of health complications from his time spent in Vietnam, diagnosed with Agent Orange Syndrome.

Joe was born October 24, 1944 in Revere, MA, son of the late Joseph DuBois and Helen (Ingersoll) DuBois. He grew up and attended schools in Everett, MA, before entering service in the US Army in September of 1962. Joe was a career Army Veteran, having served his country honorably for over 22 years, with overseas tours in both Vietnam and Germany. As Chief Warrant Officer, CWO3, he achieved numerous awards and accolades for his outstanding performance. He retired from service in September 1984.

After his military career, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and became president of his own business, Horizon Medical Search of NH, a physician placement firm working with hospitals throughout the nation. His passion for politics and community involvement lead him to run for House of Representatives, Senate, and County Sheriff over the years, and he became a Master Mason, 32nd degree, as a member of the Nashua Lodge. For many years, Joe also served as a Notary of the Public and Justice of the Peace for the state of NH. He enjoyed extensive travel around the world, with particular fondness for Freeport, Bahamas, where he loved to visit his timeshare and spend time with family.

He is predeceased by his former wife and mother of his three children, Sabine G. (Weinmann) DuBois of Germany. He is also predeceased by his son, Anthony G. DuBois, whom Joe supported throughout his struggle with muscular dystrophy.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Gilfillan and her husband Jim Gilfillan of FL; his wife Janet E. DuBois of Nashua, NH; his daughters Kassandra Ladd and Jennifer Comer of Belmont, NH; his son Joseph F.F. DuBois, III and his wife, Mary DuBois of Gilmanton, NH; and stepchildren: Jacquelyn Denslow of Jaffrey, NH; Dr. William Roach and his wife, Megan Roach of Laurel, MD; Wesley Roach of Nashua, NH; and Victoria Tapply and her Husband Michael Tapply of Pittsfeild, NH. He leaves four grandchildren who were the light of his life: Adrian McFall of Belmont, NH; Emily DuBois and Joe DuBois IV of Gilmanton, NH; and Declan Denslow of Jaffrey, NH.

Visiting hours will be Sunday September 9, 2018 at the Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH from 3 pm to 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 10 am at the St. Joseph’s Parish 777 W. Hollis Street, Nashua, NH. Burial with compete military honors in the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH will be held after the church service. All invited for refreshments at his daughter’s home, The Ladd Brook Farm, 152 Bean Hill Road, Belmont, NH which is close to the cemetery. An additional celebration of life is being planned for Joe at a later date at the San Francisco Kitchen, Main Street, Nashua, NH where he favorited and enjoyed time with his friends.

Joseph will be remembered for his incredible strength of character, unwavering spirit, and enduring love for his family. All who knew him will sorely miss him.
