Anthony Sanford

Anthony Sanford, age 75, passed away at his home in Nashua on Thursday, August 23, 2018. He was born on September 26, 1942 in Hanover, NH, the son of the late Alton D. and Joanna V. (Cusanelli) Sanford.

Anthony proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Jason. He was an active member in the Christ the King Lutheran Church in Nashua along with his wife Helen. They were the first couple married in the church in 1964, and have spent the last almost 54 years of marriage together here in Nashua. Helen and Anthony would have been celebrating 54 years of marriage on Wednesday, August 29.

Anthony was a little league baseball coach for many years in Nashua. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed bowling, fishing and collecting stamps. Above all however, he enjoyed spending time with his children and later his grandchildren, who often utilized his wavy hair and beard to try out new makeup and hair styling techniques.

In addition to his parents, Anthony was predeceased by his son, Marc J. Sanford who passed away in 2015, his sister Susan Grygorcwicz and his brother Frances Couture.

Anthony is survived by his loving wife, Helen (Drew) Sanford and their two sons and their spouses, Eric John Sanford and his wife Gina of Lowell, MA and Zachary Drew Sanford and his Fiancé Andrea Yarmo of Nashua, grandchildren, Isabella and Charlotte, a sister Beverly Antonas of Bradenton, FL and brothers, Rocco Tetreault of Houston, TX and Del Sanford of Haverhill, MA. Anthony also leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends.

SERVICES: There will be no calling hours. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 30 at 11:00AM at the Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3 Lutheran Dr. (off of Broad St), Nashua. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Anthony’s name are encouraged to consider Christ the King Lutheran Church, 3 Lutheran Dr., Nashua, NH 03063 or the American Lung Association to help fund Lung Disease Research at or by mail at 55 W.
