Norman L. Weed
Norman Weed passed away on June 30, 2018 at Nashua Crossing, Nashua, NH. He was born on May 2, 1933 on the farm in Crawford County, Iowa. His parents were Charles H. Weed and Lillian (Anderson) Weed. He was the youngest of six children.
Norman attended school in Dow City, Iowa and graduated from Dow City High School in 1951. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Korean conflict. He discharged from the Corps in 1954.
In 1956, he and Floy Baughman were married; they had know each other since elementary school. Shortly after, he entered the University of Nebraska. He received a B.S. In Business Administration with High Distinction in 1959. He later enrolled in Tulane University in New Orleans, where he received his PhD in Economics in 1968.
Norman taught at various universities including Norfolk University, Virginia, University of New Orleans, Lamar University, Beaumont, Texas, Wichita State University, Kansas, and University of Houston, Clear Lake, Texas.
Norman and Floy have two sons; Douglas and wife, Cheryl, of Nashua, and Gregory and husband, Jim Neale, of San Francisco, CA. They have two grandsons; Christopher and wife Stacia, and great-grandsons, Max and Connor, of Goldsboro, NC and Phillip and wife, Julia, and great-grandson Tyler Norman, of North Salem, NY.
Norman and Floy moved to Nashua in 2014 to be closer to family because of his failing health. All of his family including his parents and siblings, Virginia, Clarence, Jean, Donavan, and Charles preceded him in death. His interment will be on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
