Roland J. Joyce
Roland J. Joyce “Bud” passed away at home in West Falmouth, MA on July 29, 2018 at the age of 89.
Bud was the son of Dr. Roland and Mary Joyce of Nashua NH. He grew up in Nashua where he enjoyed playing ice hockey and golf along with his brother and two sisters. He attended Philips Exeter Academy where his desire to make the varsity hockey team conflicted with his studies causing a transfer to the Tilton School from which he graduated in 1946. He volunteered for the last draft call of World War II and entered Tufts University in the Fall of 1947. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict aboard the USS Oriskany.
Following the Navy, he joined the training program at Reynolds and Co. in New York, and later held various positions at the Perini Company. A lifelong entrepreneur, Bud was happiest connecting people and arranging financings for various business deals. He was an early investor in several mining projects in Canada and oil and gas developments along the Gulf Coast. He was a founder of CTC Minerals, Inc. of New Orleans, LA and served as the company’s chairman until his death.
Bud was pre-deceased by Catherine Corbett Joyce, his wife of 30 years. He will be remembered by those closest to him for his quick wit and generous nature toward those in need.
Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, well wishes are encouraged to make a donation to the Falmouth Police Support Fund, c/o Falmouth Together We Can, PO Box 303, Falmouth MA 02541 or the Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation for Falmouth Hospital, P.O.
