Karl Klarman

Karl Klarman, 95 of Nashua, NH died Tuesday February 6, 2018 peacefully at his home.

Born March 18, 1922 in Scotia, NY he was the son of the late Michael and Sadie (Gucz) Klarman and the widow of Edith W. Klarman who died January 11, 2016.

Karl grew up in Schenectady, NY. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Union College and a master’s degree from Columbia University in electrical engineering. After graduating college, Karl went on to serve in the United States Army during WW II. Upon his return he taught classes at Union College.

During the 1950s he was a Vice-President of Electro-Tec Corporation in NJ. An attractive job offer from Sanders Associates resulted in a move to Nashua, NH. While he moved on from Sanders, he and Edith decided to remain in Nashua for the rest of their lives. In the 1960’s and 1970s he worked at RCA where he was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Apollo Space Program’s rendezvous radar system for the Lunar Module. This led to him starting his own engineering consulting business, which continued into his retirement. For many years, Karl was on the National Gyro-Accelerometer Panel for IEEE.

He was a founding and longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish. Karl was a member of the Nashua Country Club for 60 years. He was extremely active in golfing and curling.

Survivors include one son, James Klarman, of Nashua; one daughter, Nancy Klarman, of Nashua with whom he lived; one sister-in-law, Mary MacDonald, of Los Angeles, CA as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held Friday February 16, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua, NH 03064. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday February 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Rd., Nashua, NH 03062. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will take place at St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua at a later date.
