Irene T. (Palkowski) Marks

Irene Theresa (Palkowski) Marks, 90, a resident of Hudson, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 7th 2018 at 4:44 pm, in her home. She was united in marriage on May 23, 1953 in Brooklyn NY to Bernard W. Marks, who preceded her in death on August 12th 2005. She was also predeceased by a son Gregory P. Marks who died in 1997.

She was born a first generation American on January 17th, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY the youngest child of Lottie (Gorska) and Walter Palkowski.

Irene is survived by her loving children; three sons and one daughter-in-law, William B. Marks (her full-time care giver) of Hudson, NH, Bernard J. and Tanya Marks of Sebastian, FL, James E. Marks Hudson, NH and three daughters and sons-in law, Eva and Joseph Spinney of Quechee, VT, Loretta and Kevin Corcoran of Hudson, NH and Carol and Matthew Griffin, of Milford, NH. Irene also had two brothers, three sisters, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Irene dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family. She was a devoted and loving wife a wonderfully caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and fun loving sister and friend. She was a role model for all of her children, teaching by example how to treat others with kindness and respect. She always had a kind word and open door for anyone who needed a helping hand. She enjoyed spending time in the garden, cooking Sunday meals for the family, while recreating many of her favorite polish dishes. She enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods, playing bingo, and Saturday night poker with the girls. She never met a cat she didn’t like. Damien (the bum), her cat of the last 12 years, never left here side as she made her final journey home.

Her radiant smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 12th from 4pm – 7pm in the DUMONT-SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 50 FERRY ST., IN HUDSON. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at 10am in St. Kathryn Parish, 4 Dracut Road in Hudson. All may meet at church. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 14th at 10am in the NH State Veteran Cemetery, 110 DW Hwy, in Boscawen, NH. All may meet at the cemetery.
