Joseph R. ‘Ray’ Valcourt

NASHUA, NH – Joseph R. “Ray” Valcourt, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, NH after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Theresa M. (Lambert) Valcourt, with whom he would have celebrated 70 years of marriage on December 25th.

He was born in Westford on September 14, 1927, a son of the late Ernest and Antoinette (Carbonneau) Valcourt. Ray was a resident of Nashua since 2007 and was formerly of Chelmsford and Homosassa Springs, FL. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Everett F. Larson DD-830 during WWII.

Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was a supervisor of reproduction equipment at Raytheon where he worked for 31 years. Ray was a member of the American Legion Post 247 in Tyngsborough and the VFW Post 0247. He was an avid bowler and fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Besides his loving wife, Theresa, he is survived by his children, Raymond Valcourt and his wife, Elaine, of Tyngsborough, Donald Valcourt and his wife, Jody, of Nashua, Albert Valcourt of St. Petersburg, FL, Larry Valcourt and his wife Ellen, of Tyngsborough, Gary Valcourt and his wife, Lynne, of Berlin, Brian Valcourt and his wife, Lisa, of Nashua, David Valcourt and his wife, Peggy, of Texas, Carol Faucher and her husband, Claude, of Spring Hill, FL, June Campbell and her husband, William, of Chelmsford, Judy Geoffroy and her husband, Normand of Lowell, Darlene Cashman and her husband, Kevin, of Tyngsborough and Diane Jelly and her companion, Gary Gauthier, of Nashua; a sister-in-law, Rita Borges of Nashua; two brothers-in-law, Ray Lambert of Tyngsborough and Armand Lambert of Lowell; also 31 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews; He was the brother of the late Paul Emile Valcourt.

Our family would like to thank the caregivers at the VA Caregivers Assistance Program and also a heartfelt thank you to the stranger who helped him in his last moments.

ARRANGEMENTS – Family and friends may gather to honor and remember Ray at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Thursday, Nov. 30 from 3 to 7pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11 o’clock at St. John the Evangelist Church, N. Chelmsford. Interment with Military Honors to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
