Donald R. Rivard
Donald R. Rivard, 81, of Merrimack passed away Tuesday, October 31st at Fairview Nursing Home in Hudson surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Nashua and attended St. Francis School prior to serving his country with the US Army. Don has lived in Merrimack since 1963 with his wife of 59 years Marguerite. He worked at Improved Machinery, which later became Ingersall Rand, prior to his retirement.
Don was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church where he served as an usher and a Eucharistic Minister in the 70’s and 80’s. He was a Fourth Degree with the Knights of Columbus of Nashua 1506 and later with Merrimack 6725 where he dressed up as the Easter Bunny for the Knights of Columbus Easter egg hunt.
Don was also a Traffic Monitor for Merrimack High School from 2000-2012 and in his free time he enjoyed camping, Nascar, doing handy work around the house, being an avid Boston sports fan, but most of all spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides his wife Marguerite, Don is survived by his daughters Donna McCarthy of Merrimack, Janice Sebek and her husband Keith Sebek of Wilton, and Lori Rivard of Merrimack; Grandchildren Christopher McCarthy and his wife Janelle of Belmont, Tanya Sebek and her fiancÃ© Travis Buchanan of Dracut, MA, Kimberly Olsen and her husband Rob of Laconia, Brian McCarthy and his girlfriend Brittney Blouin of Gilmington, and great-grandchildren BrookeLynn Buchanan, Kayla Olsen, and Rowan Olsen.
There will be calling hours held from 9-10 AM on Monday, November 6th at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Highway in Merrimack. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place following the calling hours at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 13 Baboosic Lake Road, Merrimack followed by burial at St Francis Cemetery in Nashua.
