Nov 2, 2017

Edward Masten, 89, formerly of Nashua, NH, passed away on October 29, 2017 at University Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI after a brief illness.

Ed was born in Nashua on December 8, 1927, son of the late Walter and Antonina (Swekla) Masten, and graduated from Nashua High School in 1946. A veteran, he served in Japan just after World War II. On September 20, 1953, he married Helen Cochrane, with whom he raised two children, Scott Masten of Ann Arbor, MI and Leslee Masten of Belmont, MA. Ed worked for most of his career at Nashua Corporation, then spent his final working years at Digital Equipment Corporation. In 1993, Ed and Helen retired to Hampton, NH, where they enjoyed the beach, the restaurants, and seeing live theater. In August, 2005, they moved to Ann Arbor, MI to be near their son, daughter-in-law Kathy York, and grandchildren Callie Masten and Ted Masten.

After Helen died in 2007, Ed continued to reside in Ann Arbor at Brookhaven Manor retirement community, where he was well-loved by the other residents for his sense of humor. Ed is survived by his children and two grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Masten.

A celebration of Ed’s life will be announced in the near future.
