John Douglas MacCann,

age 83, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017. He was born on March 2, 1934 in Nashua, NH, the son of the late

Constance (Thompson) and George MacCann.

John was a graduate of Alvirne High School and worked for many years horse farming and taking care of the elephants and seals at the former Benson’s Wild Animal Farm in Hudson. He also drove for various trucking companies. He loved the outdoors, hunting, boxing, the New England Patriots and listening to country music, especially George Jones.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Anna (Tokanel) MacCann who passed away in 2003, a son Douglas MacCann who passed away in 2004, his beloved hound Ivan the Terrible who passed away in 2015, a brother Donald MacCann and sisters Marion and Dorothy.

John is survived by his four children and their spouses, Carolyn and her husband Dennis Rafferty of Pelham, George MacCann of San Antonio, TX, Kathleen and her husband Mike Briand of Hudson, and Deborah MacCann and her partner Ricki Munoz of San Antonio, TX. John also leaves behind four grandchildren, Jennifer, Rachel, Renee, and Lauren and many other loving extended family members.

SERVICES: Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:00AM at the Edgewood Cemetery, Amherst St., Nashua. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in John’s name may do so to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.The DAVIS FUNERAL HOME, One Lock St., Nashua has been placed in charge of arrangements.
