Manuel J. ‘Manny’ Raposa

Manuel J. “Manny” Raposa, 75, of Nashua, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack on February 26, 2017 surrounded by his devoted and loving family.

He was born on December 17, 1941 in Fall River, MA, a son of the late Representative Manuel J. and Mary (Santos) Raposa.

He was the husband of Sally (Nicholson) Raposa, whom he married on June 25, 1976. They shared over 40 years of marriage.

He was a computer programmer for Raytheon Service Company for 42 years. While at Raytheon, he worked for both the Submarine Division in Portsmouth, RI and Rayserv in Bedford and Burlington, MA.

He was a star athlete, who once pitched the 1st perfect game in Little League history in 1954. Manuel “Rabby” Raposa is also a Hall of Fame Softball player.

Manny was a Vietnam War veteran of the United States Air Force.

Besides his beloved wife, Sally, he is survived by his sons, James J. Raposa, Jeffrey Raposa, Mark A. Barboza, Gerry Sousa; his daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Steven Smith of Fall River, MA; his brother and a sister-in-law, Ronald and Marki Raposa, of North Port, FL; his grandchildren, Savanah Barboza, Courtney Ann Mendez, Kyle Raposa, Tayla Marie Arruda, and Samantha Smith; his great grandchildren, Ariana Sola, Aliyana Mendez and Jada Raposa; his sister-in-law, Mary Moniz and husband Carlos of Dartmouth, MA; brother-in-laws, Daniel Nicholson and wife Chloe of Fall River, MA and Albert Nicholson and wife Sarah of Springfield, Oregon; and his cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends he encountered in his business and professional life.

SERVICES: A Memorial Service in his honor will be held at the Community Chapel, 5 St. Laurent St., Nashua on Friday, March 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM with luncheon to follow. Interment prayers, military honors and burial will be held at the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at 3:00 PM. A Memorial Service will also be held in his home town on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Name Church, 709 Hanover St., Fall River, MA with a Celebration of Life to follow.
